Captioned Media Program
a free video lending program funded by the US. Department of Education, administered by the NAD (National Association of the Deaf). The program provides videos which are "open-captioned," meaning they will display the English text of the soundtrack with any TV/VCR. No special decoder-device is necessary. There are no rental, registration, or postage fees.

National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorders
one of the National Institutes of Health that deals with deafness and other communication disorders. It has a mandate to conduct and support biomedical and behavioral research and training in the normal and disordered processes of hearing, balance, smell, taste, voice, speech, and language.
