What is a Caregiver Specialist?
North Carolina Regional Caregiver Specialists
All North Carolina Area Agencies on Aging have a Caregiver Specialist on staff. They are available to answer your questions and to help you link with available local services that would help you perform your caregiver responsibilities. The services of caregiver specialists are free of charge.
A regional specialist may decide that you would be best served by a local caregiver specialist. If so, they would refer you to the appropriate person within a local agency serving your area. Usually, that agency is a Council or Department on Aging. If you would prefer to contact a local specialist directly, see the contact information below.

North Carolina Local Caregiver Specialists
Local caregiver specialists are trained individuals hired by a local agency, typically a Council or Department on Aging, who are very familiar with local resources and how things work within a particular county. They may know of resourses that a regional caregiver specialist wouldn't know about since the regional specialist works within several counties. The North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services keeps an online list of local caregiver specialists funded through the Older Americans Act. The services of caregiver specialists are free of charge.
