The following organizations represent a "Safety Net Advisory Council" for North Carolina.

- North Carolina Association of Healthcare Access
- North Carolina Community Health Center Association
- North Carolina Division of Public Health
- North Carolina Hospital Association

Through their efforts, a statewide inventory of "safety net organizations" has been taken and the results are now available online to the public as a searchable database. This information is hosted by the NC Institute of Medicine through funding by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation and the Duke Endowment.
